DENTISTRY FOR ALL AGES

Professional teeth cleaning is an important part of oral hygiene. Brushing alone cannot prevent the build-up of plaque. Beyond preventing cavities, the removal of dental plaque from teeth also prevents gingivitis and periodontal disease.

For a brighter, whiter smile, professional teeth whitening is also available. Our teeth whitening is guaranteed not to damage tooth enamel and will provide excellent results each time.

Dental veneers can transform a smile using a simple bonding technique. The process of fitting porcelain veneers, a thin, dental-grade porcelain, is minimally invasive and creates a discrete and natural looking results.

Invisalign® clear aligners are custom-made for you. The aligners are virtually invisible and fit snugly over your teeth. Each aligner shifts your teeth slightly, moving them horizontally and vertically and even rotating them when needed. Your aligners are engineered to use the right amount of force in the right place at the right time.

When you change to the next set of aligners (typically every other week) your teeth gradually move into position, following a custom treatment plan mapped out by your doctor.

Lots of people talk about having a tooth “capped” and dentists talk about having a tooth crowned. These words are describing the same thing. If a tooth has too large a filling, or has pieces broken off, it needs to be restored. This is done by preparing the tooth and having a dental lab make up a covering for the tooth that caps the tooth and replaces what is missing or broken. The material used for this can be metal or tooth coloured. For many of the crowns we do now they are made out of Zirconium which is very strong and tooth coloured.

For missing teeth there are a number options to replace them. If one to three teeth are missing in an area they can be replaced with a Bridge. A bridge is a like two crowns with a false tooth/teeth in between and it is “glued” into place. The material used to replace the missing teeth depends upon the aesthetic concerns and the number of teeth being replaced If there are more teeth missing partial or complete dentures can be used. These are usually made out of metal and plastic and look very natural. They are a cost effective way of replacing many teeth.

Another way to replace teeth is by using dental implants. These are an amazing way to replace missing teeth, they are long lasting because they become “integrated” or attached to the bone. They can be used to replace just one tooth or all the teeth or they can even be used as an anchor for dentures that shift and move around.

There is nothing that puts fear into people like hearing the words ROOT CANAL in relation to their dental treatment, but there is little to be afraid of. In fact, most patients receiving root canal therapy fall asleep or become so engrossed in their Netflix show that they don’t realize that the procedure is being performed. Root canal therapy is a way of keeping a tooth functional after the pulp/nerve has become infected, inflamed, injured or has died. Teeth that have been treated with root canal therapy feel and work just like the other teeth.

Although Cosmetic Dentistry is used by many dental offices to describe what they do, it only means dentistry that makes teeth and gums look better. I would hope that it is the aspiration of all dental practitioners to be cosmetic dentists. Our goal is to make every procedure we do, to look amazing.

Soft Tissue Laser is available for a wide range of oral soft tissue applications and pain management. From surgical procedures to simple gum inflammation, this is ideal for most general dental applications.

There are many procedures that we can do to save teeth but sometimes they need to be removed or extracted. The most common reasons for extractions are extensive tooth decay, periodontal disease or fractures. Bone preservation and gentle techniques are utilized to maintain bone where the tooth/teeth were extracted to give the most options for replacement of the tooth/teeth.

It cannot be overstated that the cost of a sports guard is far less than the cost of repairing or replacing teeth damaged or knocked out during sporting activities. Sports guards made by our office fit comfortably, are easy to wear and protect the teeth.

Snoring and/or stopping breathing (apnea) while sleeping are very serious problems that can affect people and their partners. There is a simple appliance or mouth guard that can reduce or stop snoring. This appliance can also be used as an alternative to a CPAP machine in some cases where sleep apnea or stopping breathing while sleeping is involved. Snoring affects the sleep patterns for the partners of snorers and can have some serious life consequences. Sleep apnea has been linked to cardiovascular disease such as high blood pressure, stroke, it can cause tiredness during the day, diabetes, depression and headaches.
